Esmée Peets
Artist from Ottawa, studying Art History and Studio Arts at Concordia University in Montréal.
Esmée works in acrylic, oil, graphite and mixed media. Her practice explores the boundaries of figurative painting through experiments with movement and time, framing and transparency, and the tension between realism and abstraction. Her paintings emphasize colour and gesture, while her drawings are mostly monochromatic and highly detailed.
She completed the Visual Arts concentration at École secondaire publique De La Salle in Ottawa (2019–2025), where she also created wearable sculpture and staged photography in collaboration with her classmates.
Alongside her own work, Esmée teaches. Since 2022, she has given private drawing lessons, and she has also taught weekly children’s classes, designed camp activities, and co-led workshops for children and for adults with disabilities.
